What is CBD - Check out our Infographic.

As you can see CBD stands for Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is a chemical in the Cannabis sativa plant, also known as marijuana or hemp. Over 80 chemicals, known as cannabinoids, have been identified in the Cannabis sativa plant. While delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the major active ingredient in marijuana, cannabidiol is also obtained from hemp, which contains only very small amounts of THC.

The passage of the 2018 Farm Bill made it legal to sell hemp and hemp products in the U.S. But that doesn’t mean that all hemp-derived cannabidiol products are legal. Since cannabidiol has been studied as a new drug, it can’t be legally included in foods or dietary supplements.

Also, cannabidiol can’t be included in products marketed with therapeutic claims. Cannabidiol can only be included in “cosmetic” products and only if it contains less than 0.3% THC. But there are still products labeled as dietary supplements on the market that contain cannabidiol. The amount of cannabidiol contained in these products is not always reported accurately on the product label.

Cannabidiol is most commonly used for seizure disorder (epilepsy). It is also used for anxiety, pain, a muscle disorder called dystonia, Parkinson disease, Crohn disease, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Benefits of CBD

Benefits to CBD are numerous as you can see in the infographic above and on the right.

While the infographics highlight few benefits, it is believed this is a very less known subject to everyone and the possibilities are infinite. Today you will find everything from CBD PetsCBD Oil, Recovery, Sleep, Calm, or Balanced life and here at CannibisStore.com you can search by these benefits

How does CBD work in your body?

Cannabidiol has effects on the brain. The exact cause for these effects is not clear. However, cannabidiol seems to prevent the breakdown of a chemical in the brain that affects pain, mood, and mental function. Preventing the breakdown of this chemical and increasing its levels in the blood seems to reduce psychotic symptoms associated with conditions such as schizophrenia. Cannabidiol might also block some of the psychoactive effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Also, cannabidiol seems to reduce pain and anxiety.

CBD vs THC Side Effects

Both CBD and THC are completely safe. In fact, one of the selling points is that there have been no recorded adverse effects from either cannabinoid, making them some of the safest compounds on earth. That being said, THC still has some adverse effects of which you should be aware:

  • Dry mouth
  • Red Eyes
  • Increased heart rate
  • Coordination problems
  • Memory loss
  • Slower reaction times

CBD has none of these and can even be taken in moderately larger doses (although moderation is best). As always, it’s recommended that you start out slow with CBD and work your way up until you find a dose that works best for you. Most anecdotal reports show that common side effects from CBD are drowsiness. And that’s it. So try some CBD today, because you might get a good night’s sleep!

What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the primary psychoactive component that makes up the cannabis plant. This means that THC is the primary cannabinoid that is responsible for creating the “high” feeling that is most often associated with recreational cannabis use.

THC works, at least in part, by imitating the effects of 2-AG and anandamide. Both of these neurotransmitters are naturally produced by the human body to help modulate healthy eating and sleeping habits, the perception of physical pain, as well as countless other bodily functions.

The known effects of THC include:

  • Relaxation
  • Fatigue
  • Hunger
  • Altered senses of smell, hearing, and sight
  • Reduced aggression
